Elder Meeting  minutes

May 4, 2008 

Attending:  Pastor Bob, Dino Calarco, John Schweitzer, John Regner, Jeff Machmueller, Larry Lowrie

John Regner opened with prayer

Pastor Bob gave a devotional on how we need to be a “peculiar” people, not like the world.  We as Christians need to be noticeably different.  We need to examine ourselves to make sure we haven’t conformed to the world.  Let us line up to the pattern Scripture shows believers are to be.

Dino talked about an online video clip that he suggested we all watch.  He sent the link to that site earlier this week to the elders and deacons.

Agenda:

Ø     Cornerstone Pastor Sabbatical: Is in place, $2000 initial deposit made.

Ø     Personnel Manual: discussed ways how a pay scale could be established for various positions.  Send manual to deacons for review and approval.

Ø     30 Survey Takers for NCD—Results?:  Dr. Stu Dix will get back to us.

Ø     Online giving—Roy new website?:  Roy is ready.  Discussed getting quotes for webpage upkeep.  Also, online giving can be established soon.

Ø     Deacon reviews:  Elders to meet with their assigned deacons and go over the ministry review forms.

Ø     Volunteer Appreciation dinner:  Iron Ridge Inn, on a Saturday, end of May-beginning of June.  Send to deacons for approval.

Ø     Elder training material-5 dysfunctions:  Took survey and discussed weaknesses.  Discussed weakness in accountability.  We need to make our monthly deacon contacts, our quarterly congregational contacts, and to make it known that these calls or meetings are official in a way and not just casual conversation.  We need to be attending required meetings and church.  Importance of timeliness.

Ø     Simple Church:  Healthy discussion must ensue.  It already has started.
