Elder Meeting  minutes

January 6^th, 2008 

Attending:  Pastor Bob, Dino Calarco, John Regner, Steve Lein, John Schweitzer, Tom Gmirek, Larry Lowrie, Jeff Machmueller, Jason Campbell

7:40 AM Prayer / Devotional: Bob spoke on Jesus and the rich young ruler.  How can we be better followers of Christ?  

7:45-8:00 am Accountability Sheet & Prayer—Have we been making the calls and asking the tough questions?  Let’s not forget to make our weekly calls.

8:00-9:00 am Action Items

Ø     Elder Candidates to Congregation—Review Constitution – had candidates read sections aloud from the constitution.  Some clarification needed re: elder review

Ø     Deacon Review—Check in with Deacons regularly

Ø     Counting offering on Sundays—Better way to label communion wine – Elder that brings Scrip will be in charge of counting offering.  Wine will be labeled better.

Ø     Vision—40 Days – discussed small groups putting aside their current study to do the 40 Days study

Ø     Natural Church Development Survey – Dr. Stu Dix will be doing a survey to see where our weak areas are.

Ø     Strategic Plan Review – this and the prior 2 items will be discussed at the upcoming elder retreat.

Ø     Jana Fields – has been paid

Ø     Elder Phone Calls – reminder to use the prayer chain list

Ø     Sat. night Services? – possibly before Easter

Ø     Personnel Manual Team – in place

Ø     Elder Retreat-Roles and Agenda—Simple Church – elders should read book before the retreat (January 18 & 19)

Ø     Worship Only Zone – discussion about no business transactions being done before the service.  Should be a time for prayer, preparation and fellowship.
