Deacon Board Meeting

June 26, 2007  Minutes

Present: John & Tammy Schweitzer, Deb Howard, Jean Detlaff, Janet Regner, Trish Powers, Marlee Christians, Pastor Bob

6:30 PM Opening Prayer and Devotional Mark chapter 6 – Jesus management style:
Model / Train / Send / Check / Care. Things went great – later the disciples struggled, but they were doing what they were supposed to be doing both times.

Review & Approval of May Minutes: /m/ Tammy /s/ Deb Approved by unanimous vote.

Financial Report: Large gift last week has helped immensely with our June shortfall – continue to pray about summer finances & ministry. Approved /m/ Janet /s/ Tammy

Old Business:

Ø “Lapgans” Update Being completed – Outreach team will work on procedures

Ø Naeir Corporation Membership – order procedure orders in weeks 1-4 of each catalogue, order placed in week 5.

Ø Graphic artwork for trailer/yard signs update. Extra large sign on front of building – smaller “real estate” size sign blanks need to be purchased and assembled.

Ø Servant Keeper Software Upgrade update - done

Ø Eric Szatkowski, internet dangers workshop update – Bob has heard from other pastors – good response – have not heard from school – Bob will check with them again.

Ø Gas Give Away on June 19th update – went great!

Ø Scrip Drive – Fall effort to eliminate building mortgage via scrip sales… Begin in the fall (October)

 New Business:

Ø Pastor’s Sabbatical - Meetings, Coverage, etc. Schedule as normal – Elders will be present

Ø Dunseath Assistance – fund raising for orphanage, etc – send cash. Events need to be planned – we already help with Dunseath salary, this will be in addition.

Ø Mayville Family Assistance – Ohm Family - Father and daughter both dealing with cancer – need help mowing lawn, meals, etc. Larry Lowrie & Trish are contacting them to schedule assistance

Ø Scrip Policy – effective immediately – no “floating” of Scrip – full payment at time of purchase only.

Ø Compassion fund policy – Need to get Elder feedback if less than $100?  Discussed and the answer is “Yes – get Elder permission.’ If the need is immediate, but no money is available, the people may apply for compassion assistance.
